What was this gooey bar of decadence? I had to find out. So I clicked on the picture and it took me to a blog called luluthebaker.blogspot.org. I found the recipe there and decided to give it a try!
This is a double recipe, so feel free to cut in half as needed.
In a large bowl combine 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 cups flour
2 cups rolled oats
2 tsp of baking soda
and 1 1/2 cups melted butter.
In a sauce pan melt 2 packages of soft caramels with 1 cup of heavy cream.
Pour half of the oat mixture into a lined pan and bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes.
Remove from oven, sprinkle 1 bag of chocolate chips on top.
Pour the caramel mixture over these.
I looks like it's going to overflow...
Then crumble the rest of the oat mixture on top and pop it back in the oven for another 20 minutes.
I let this cool for a few hours. I let it sit for 5 hours before tasting some of it.
The caramel was still molten even 2 hours after it was taken out of the oven. However, the resulting dessert was ridiculously awesome!
Thanks to Melissa from luluthebaker.blogspot.com for allowing me to present this recipe on my blog!
Enjoy!
